Fun for all ages! Family programs are designed for children aged 5 or older and their family adults to investigate the wonderful world of science together.

Wild Artist!
Saturday, February 28, 9 a.m. to noon

Slither, wiggle, trot and waddle. Discover the ways that animals make their mark in the art world by exploring our temporary exhibit Enriched! Paintings by Oklahoma City Zoo Animals. Watch an Oklahoma City Zoo animal create a masterpiece before your eyes! Then get your hands dirty and practice new techniques with your family to make art like the animals do! This event is for children 5 and up with an adult.

Space is limited and advance registration is required. On-site registration is not available for this program.

Family Invertebrate Fossil Field Trip
Friday, April 24, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 25, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Sam Noble Museum invites you to join invertebrate paleontology curator Dr. Steve Westrop for an exciting journey into Oklahoma's Paleozoic past. Explore life in Oklahoma's ancient oceans on Friday evening with a close-up look at some of the museum's finest invertebrate specimens. On Saturday morning, we will depart from the museum at 9 a.m. and travel in university vans to the site where you will find a variety of marine fossils that you can take home. Bring a sack lunch, snacks, comfortable shoes and plenty of water. This field trip is for children 7 & up with an adult.

Summer Explorers Family Programs

Wild at HeART
Friday, June 12, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Create a lifelike sculpture of your favorite animal! Join us as we investigate the body shapes of different animals and techniques for working with clay. You’ll explore museum galleries and the temporary exhibit, Audubon and the Art of Birds, to find inspiration and create a unique animal sculpture as a family. This event is for children 5 and up with an adult.

A Night with Bats
Friday, July 17, 8 to 10 p.m.

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a … mammal? Join us as we discover the amazing life of bats! We will discover the secrets of echolocation, flight and cave homes before travelling by caravan to a local park to encounter these high flying animals! This event is for children 5 and up with an adult.
